Ways to Participate

Make a voting information checklist

Use current official guidance for the details that can change.

Start with official information

Registration, identification, voting methods and deadlines depend on your location and circumstances. Use your state or local election office for the rules that apply. ElectoralVote.com can be a starting hub; official election guidance remains the authority for specific requirements.

Prepare a personal checklist

Confirm your registration status, the election you intend to participate in and the available voting method. Record the official deadline and where to ask questions. If you move or change your name, use the official process to check whether an update is needed.

Research the ballot

Read candidate information and ballot-measure text with attention to the source. Separate an endorsement from a factual guide. Plan ahead so a missing document or unanswered procedural question does not become a last-minute obstacle. This publication does not tell readers which candidate or party to support.

Bring it to the conversation

  • Is your registration information current?
  • What deadline and method apply?
  • Which official office can answer questions?
